Abstract

The goal of this SBIR proposal is to evaluate the suitability of the WESCAM Model 14 EO sensor, currently deployed in the Predator, for oceanographic research use in the Naval Postgraduate School's "Pelican" optionally piloted aircraft. Sensor specifications will be based on Arete's extensive experience in remote sensing of the ocean, and engineering specifications developed with the Naval Postgraduate School. Arete will assess the Model 14's capability to meet research instrument requirements and identify needed component/system improvements if the current system is inadequate. Additionally, Arete will identify other available sensor/system options and provide cost/benefit and performance tradeoff analyses for each.
