Abstract

The purpose of this SBIR Phase I proposal is to establish whether existing National Capabilities can be used to fulfill a key warfighting support requirement needed for planning and executing expeditionary warfare operations: providing, to the on-scene commander, accurate, up-to-date information on wave, surf, and wind conditions, ocean currents, near-shore bathymetry, and location of significant submerged obstacles. This assessment will be accomplished by extending existing physics-based remote-sensing models/simulations to apply to satellite-borne sensors, apply this upgraded analysis capability to a particular National sensor of the sponsor's choice, and develop a test specification for proof-of-principle demon- stration using that sensor. (The actual demonstration experiment and associated data analysis would be accomplished during a follow-on Phase II SBIR effort.)
