Abstract

The target and its computer representation plays a crucial role in ground-fixed weapon effectiveness analysis. Multiple weapon effects codes are utilized which operate at differing levels of fidelity and focus on differing aspects of the overall problem. Each code in turn has unique target model and interrogation needs. The target models are difficult to create directly and existing target model generators fall short of meeting the needs of these multiple codes. The proposed Smart Target Modeling Tool would provide a superset of target data to man disparate analyses. It would allow users to quickly generate targets for a limited set of building types suing engineering and architectural rules. Users would be able to graphically modify the target from the user interface. A layered approach is proposed which would allow differing methodologies to receive only data that it needs. Target data might include geometry, component properties, component connectivity, venting, room definition, plumbing, and electrical wiring. This Phase I effort will define a standard for ground-fixed target model representations. Requirements for the Smart Target Modeling Tool, as well as user interface and data design will be formulated. Interfacing applications will be determined and an interface design will be completed.
