A STUDY IS PROPOSED TO DEFINE AND EVALUATE CANDIDATE DUAL BALLISTIC COEFFICIENT (BETA) CONFIGURATIONS WHICH ARE FEASIBLE AND APPROPRIATE FOR THE HOMING PRECURSOR JAMMER (HPJ) SYSTEM. EMPHASIS WILL BE PLACED ON EVOLVING CONFIGURATIONS FEATURING MODERATE-TO-HIGH BETA AERODYNAMICALLY STABLE FIRST-STAGE FLIGHT PERFORMANCE AT HYPERSONIC/ SUPERSONIC SPEEDS, AND LOW-BETA AERODYNAMICALLY STABLE SECOND-STAGE FLIGHT PERFORMANCE AT SUBSONIC SPEEDS. SMALL, LIGHT WEIGHT, RELIABLE JAMMER CONCEPTS WILL BE SOUGHT WHICH EFFICIENTLY PACKAGE THE JAMMER PAYLOAD COMPONENTS, AND WHICH ARE CAPABLE OF WITHSTANDING THE CARRIER VEHICLE EXPULSION AND FLIGHT ENVIRONMENTS. INNOVATIVE BUT RELIABLE LOW-BETA AND DUAL MODE CONFIGURATIONS AND IMPLEMENTATION OPTIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED, AND AVAILABLE DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE DATA ON LOW-BETA AND DUAL MODE CONFIGURATIONS SUCH AS USED FOR AIR FORCE TACTICAL MUNITIONS (BOMBLETS) WILL BE REVIEWED AND INCORPORATED IN THIS STUDY.
