Abstract

The goal of the Curriculum Solutions for Instruction in Middle Mathematics (CSI-M2) Project is
to improve mathematics understanding and performance of students in the middle grades by
developing and providing Education Data Management System (EDMS) software. The software
will generate an individual education plan for each student based on a large test item database
constructed by using objectives from NCTM Principles and Standards for School Mathematics
for Grades 6 - 8, herein called the Standards published by the National Council of Teachers of
Mathematics (NCTM). The software will also provide analyses of student responses on the
computer-based activities utilizing the Standards The EDMS software will have the capability to
generate an Individual Instruction Plan (I2P) for students and a Classroom Curriculum Profile
(C2P) with an instruction plan for the teacher including references to the textbook of choice.
