Abstract

This SBIR Phase I project will develop an evidence-based approach to maximize learning for K-12 students and predict learning outcomes. We propose to analyze data at multiple levels, including individual and group assessment data, and characteristics of the student, teacher, principal, and school. Using this data, we will categorize performance levels, determine the strengths and weaknesses of the student, suggest next steps in learning, and predict how well a student can do under different personalized learning regimen. An evidence-based approach will use what is known about the student and school and build individualized reports recommending key influencers to direct and support individual learning patterns. The purpose is to assist educators in leveraging their data and experience to develop actionable plans regarding students, individually or in groups. Students in schools and community training programs will greatly benefit. The overall goal of this program is to equip teachers with choices that will best direct their students towards maximum achievement. A secondary goal of this program is to give educators a realistic assessment of what can be achieved in the next year and the steps necessary to achieve this performance in the school.
