Abstract

THE NEW HIGH TC SUPERCONDUCTING MATERIALS CAN BE USED TO CONSTRUCT CURRENT LEADS FOR CONVENTIONAL SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNETS. THIS IS A RELATIVELY SIMPLE SYSTEM, THAT WILL NOT PLACE LARGE DEMANDS ON THE MATERIAL OR ON THE FABRICATION PROCESS. HOWEVER, THE USE OF SUPERCONDUCTING LEADS CAN RESULT IN SUBSTANTIAL IMPROVEMENTS IN HEAT LEAKS.
