Abstract

Aerius Photonics is proposing a highly practical and effective plan to develop a scene projector with 512 x 512 pixels that allows the polarization state of each pixel to be independently and dynamically controlled at full frame rates. The projector would utilize two separate randomly polarized resistor array systems with orthogonal linear polarizers and beam combine the output of those systems together to generate a single 512x512 scene capable of displaying any arbitrary combination of linear polarization by adjusting the output from each pixel in each resistor array independently. The benefits of this approach include the following: (1) low risk, (2) precise polarization control for each pixel, (3) pixel-pitch independence, (4) compatibility with the cryogenic vacuum operation, and (5) compatibility with alternative and future scene projector systems.
