Abstract

An ECC monitoring system in the form of a miniature Personal Computer Memory Card International Ass(PCMCIA) card is proposed. PCMCIA is a standard for credit card-sized ( 5mm x 86mm x 54 mm) peripherdesigned to use with notebook and handheld computers. The user can quickly remove and add these cardportable computers. Cards are manufactured that add I/0 devices to the computer, such as modems, loc(LAN) adapters, and wireless interfaces. By developing the electronics for an ECG interface in the fECG monitoring system can take advantage of a rapidly growing assortment of off-the-shelf portable cThis includes wireless network interfaces, handheld pen / touch input and direct ECG data entry to pUsing an ECG PCMCIA card will allow the physician to upgrade to newer computers and network interfacwithout replacing their investment in the ECG electronics. In this SBIR a breadboard of an BCG PCMCIdeveloped and interfaced to a portable computer. Physicians will also be surveyed about the system.preproduction prototype will be designed and manufactured.
