Abstract:
Our Internet Based-Rehabilitation (IB-Rehab) Modules are focused on end-to-end rehabilitation therapeutic support of our recovering warfighters. Our core modules currently enable initial hospital, outpatient/clinic, and patient-home uses on commercial-off-the-shelf desktop/laptop computers, game consoles, and smart-devices(PDAs/Smart-Phones). To overcome existing treatment challenges of mTBI, PTSD, and Poly-Trauma suffering recovering warfighters in the areas of patient acceptance, compliance, and completion of therapies, our modules enable advanced "fun-and-video-game-addictive" therapeutic interventions. Essentially, we are evolving therapeutic "serious-games" scientifically based upon our integrated product teams and "best-practices" R&D model which includes Veterans Administration and Military Medical Staff (on a voluntary non-inference basis), and patients, along with world-class neuroscientists, cognitive psychologists, and rehabilitation specialists (audiologists, speech pathologists) with system architects, software engineers, game developers, and artists. Our Phase-I IB-Rehab R&D successes towards developing processes, designs, and functional prototypes, along with proof-of-concept and feasibility demonstrations, enables our team to propose low-risk, high-payoff solutions as add-on (IB-Rehab) modules to three existing large commercial success team partners' products. Specifically, our modules will be sold as both therapeutic and self-improvement options to popular brain training products, auditory products, and military/school training products. IB-Rehab deliverables include Free-Use versions for VA/Military/Governmental Uses. Phase-III Dual Use Civilian Commercial Sales have already occurred within Phase-I.
