Abstract

Fiber coupled mid-infrared semiconductor lasers provide potential reduction in life cycle costs for tactical military systems compared to current lasers. The proposed work will investigate the stability of semiconductor lasers in military environments for reliable insertion into mid-infrared transmitting fiber optics. The overall project will demonstrate stable operation of a moderate power, multiband, mid-infrared laser in military aircraft environments.
