Abstract

Present, laser based, countermeasure systems are too large and too expensive for deployment. Aculight will apply its propritary optical mounting techniques to reduce the size and cost of these IR transmitters. Further, Aculight will remove the power, controls and diode laser pumps from the laser head allowing direct mounting on Navy high performance aircraft pointing and tracking turrets. The removeal of the diode laser pumps also removes a large heat load from the laser head structure. The smallsize of the laser transmitter reduces optical losses that would be present from coupling optics and from vibration and jitter pointing induced errors. Aculight will deliver a compact laser IRCM source for navy testing at the conclusion of ths work.
