Abstract

This research effort investigates the use of a passive tracker combined with the appropriate "neural network" or "heuristic" assessment system to determine whether a missile fired at an aircraft is on a collision course. The results of this study will outline a system concept which can be used to assist military aircrews in determining whether a missile has been "defeated" through the use of tactics, off-board countermeasures or on-board countermeasures.
