With the thermal and noise requirements experimentally demonstrated in Phase I, Mainstream will focus Phase II on transitioning the functional system developed in Phase I to a production prototype. The Phase II effort will start with the definition of requirements for the thermal management system and selection of the end-use electronics enclosure. Following this definition, Mainstream will adapt the Phase I design to conform to the package space and interfaces of the end-use electronics enclosure. Mainstream will then fabricate the production prototype, and verify thermal, noise, and power consumption characteristics in relevant ambient conditions. At the conclusion of the Phase II base effort, Mainstream will deliver the functional prototype thermal management system to NAVSEA. In the Phase II option, Mainstream will produce computational results showing that the production prototype can withstand necessary shock loads (MIL-STD-901-D) to be used in an OHIO-class submarine and experimentally certify that the VCTMS complies with the vibration requirement (MIL-STD-167-1).
