Abstract

This project addresses the need for a compact, light-weight water treatment system for use on Navy vessels that operate primarily in littoral waters. A modular and intelligent system design will be developed, featuring a novel second-stage disinfection module. The approach eliminates the need to carry expensive and hazardous chemicals on board, making use of low-temperature plasma chemistry to synthesize biocidal species in-situ using only water, air and a plasma generator.
