Abstract

The Phase II compact, acoustic-model, execution server (CAMES) System will demonstrate that an entire CASS application can be mapped into FPGA-based GRAB modules and executed at 50 times that of a single microprocessor. The objective is superior ratingembedded metrics -- cost, performance, power, cooling requirements, volume and reliability when compared to microprocessor approaches. The CAMES System comprises hardware, tools and software. Two boards are necessary. The first provides a developmentreference design and the second is the acceleration demonstration server. The acceleration server design uses a single board with 18 FPGA chips, 24 GByte memory, high performance system interfaces and a netcentric control port. A closely coupledmicroprocessor server provides file storage and graphical user interface. The CAMES tool technology developed provides productivity and performance for converting supercomputer or workstation oriented codes into the data flow organization necessary forembedded acceleration. The software and FPGA control bit files produced represent GRAB execution from and CASS control libraries and a graphical user interface for specifying and loading application
