Abstract

"We propose a two way integration of logistics and simulation technologiesincorporating Cougaar and HLA technologies. At one end of the integration,we propose to exploit simulation technologies to drive the major inputs ofthe logistics and the distribution pipeline. At the other end, the logistics software can provide opportunities to drive parts of the simulation by making all or a portion of the logistics state available to the simulation network ata high level of detail. To achieve a two way integration, our effort involvesintegration of the Cougaar logistics architecture into HLA. Cougaar containsthat technology to provide a high level of detail that can support a robustsimulation effort. Therefore, the major goal of this effort is an integratedlogistics capability within the combat simulation context through theexploitation of Cougaar software. The logistics computations are available at multiple fidelities that can provide integration into training platforms at multiple fidelities (different granularities of detail). A marriage between HLA and Cougaar technologies can add value to both the simulationand logistics communities. Value to the simulation community includes totalasset visibility during simulations in addition to more realistic simulations.Value to the logistics community is an understanding of the supply chainthrough simulations"
