Abstract:
In an information-rich environment, the possibility of enhancing the decision-making processes and outcomes is closely tied to the proper and timely management and analysis of information. In a team decision making environment coopertion, communication, collaboration, shared situational awareness and mental models become critical parameters for success. Computer technology, hardware and software, hads capacities to provide invaluable services to the decision making processes. The more "natural" the computer based decision support environment is, the more it will assist in the decision making processes, based of course on its capabilities. During Phase I, we propose to prototype and demo a decision support environment (set of tools and capabilities) that will fit into the decision process as a valued "team member." This environment will be intuititve, rich in features, and deep with respect to the levels of sophistication its "intelligence" will support. We think our team's expertise and successful experiences will result in fulfilling these ambitious goals.
