Abstract:
ABSTRACT: Oceanit proposes a revolutionary approach for a concrete joint sealer that can sustain temperatures from subzero to 1700 degrees F while maintaining satisfactory mechanical properties at ambient conditions. The proposed approach utilizes the high temperature resistant materials to enhance thermal stability of the sealant material. The sealant material is impermeable to water or oil, self-consolidated and resistant to variety of chemical. BENEFIT: The successful outcome of the proposed research has significant impact on national infrastructure. The developed nanocomposite sealant can be utilized in the construction of new airfields landing pads in addition to the retrofit of existing runways. Commercial applications for the sealant material include use of the material as a highway joint sealant or in high temperature areas such as blast furnaces, rocket pads or ovens, shielding for nuclear reactor.
