IN THIS WORK, WE PROPOSE TO IDENTIFY, DESIGN, AND EVALUATE OPTIMUM TRANSFORMER CANDIDATES FOR ELECTRONIC FUSE APPLICATIONS. POSSIBLE CANDIDATES WILL ORIGINATE FROM THE AREAS OF AC, PULSE, AND NONCONVENTIONAL TRANSFORMERS. THE TRANSFORMERS WILL HAVE A VOLTAGE GAIN OF 100 AND WILL BE DESIGNED FOR HIGH EFFICIENCY AND RELIABILITY. KEY ISSUES ADDRESSED IN THIS PROPOSAL ARE: EFFICIENCY, RELIABILITY, SIZE, SAFETY, AND COMPATABILITY IN A VARIABLE ELECTRICAL ENVIRONMENT. THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THIS WORK IS TO IDENTIFY SEVERAL SMALL, HIGH EFFICIENCY, HIGH RELIABILITY TRANSFORMERS TO CONVERT LOW VOLTAGE TO HIGH VOLTAGE. TECHNIQUES WILL ALSO BE DEVELOPED TO: ENSURE FAILSAFE OPERATION OF THE TRANSFORMER AND TRANSMIT ENERGY ACROSS A METALLIC BARRIER.
