Abstract

In this Parallel Phase II program, Spectra Research, Inc. proposes to enhance and demonstrate its low-cost cooperative ID design to solve an important part of the air-to-ground target identification problem. S*R's secure, passive, multi-spectral design is largely covert, non-radiating, and not useful to the enemy in the location or identification of U.S. or Coalition forces. The existing design offers a significant reduction in the time required for ID over current methods. Furthermore it can be installed with only moderate changes to the avionics software. This program will enhance the overall design to include size reduction, increased range, and ease of integration. S*R plans to perform limited flight testing with conventional radar and SAR targeting systems.
