Abstract

Solid State Scientific Corporation proposes the development of and airborne LWIR spectral sensor. This sensor is based on our successful demonstration of a proof of concept LWIR spectral sensor in Phase I. The sensor would have two operating modes:¿ 5-spectral bands to emulate a space borne spectral recognition sensor for discrimination of reentry vehicle and decoy like targets. Discrimination would be accomplished by long range measurement of target cooling rates.¿ 40-spectral bands for 0.1 um resolution target measurement. The proposed sensor is expected to be used for detailed LWIR spectral signature measurements. It will also provide a vehicle to reduce risk in future MDA sensor and seeker development.
