Abstract

Advances in signal processing and high speed digital image processing electronics make it feasible to implement a real-time image reconstruction algorithm in a digital FLIR system. Implementation of such an algorithm would result in increased spatial resolution on the order of two to three times and resolution of a diffraction limited system, thus increasing the spatially limited acquisition criteria by the same factor. In the Phase I effort we propose to study and design a super-resolved FLIR system that is comprised of an integrated reconstruction algorithm, real-time image processing electronics and FPA based IR sensor. In the Phase II effort we will propose to build the prototype system.
