Abstract

We bring together research from cognitive psychology, social psychology and neuroscience to create an innovative approach to enhance recognition of facial images through brief exposure presentation. We rely on two presentation methods to produce a measurable affective reaction to facial images which is detectable through galvanic skin response. These presentation methods allow users to acquire information without increasing attentional and cognitive demands. In Phase I we explored the validity of improving facial recognition performance through brief exposure priming. In Phase II we will create design documents for a working ELADIS through enhancement of our simulator and experimental design used in Phase I.
