Abstract
NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING IN THE PRODUCTION OF URANIUM FUEL RODS COULD BE IMPROVED BY THE USE OF COMPUTERIZED TOMOGRAPHY. THE SPATIAL RESOLUTION OF CURRENT TOMOGRAPHIC APPARATUS IS NOT QUITE ADEQUATE TO ACHIEVE THE REQUIRED PRECISION FOR CLADDING THICKNESS MEASUREMENT. THE APPLICATION OF TOMOGRAPHIC RECONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES TO CONVENTIONAL DIGITAL FLUOROSCOPY DATA COULD PRODUCE THE NEEDED IMPROVEMENT IN SPATIAL RESOLUTION. THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO INVESTIGATE THE FEASIBILITY OF CONSTRUCTING TOMOGRAPHIC IMAGES FROM DIGITAL FLUOROSCOPY DATA.
