Abstract

A LOW COST MEASUREMENT MODULE TAILORED TO THE APPLICATION OFSENSING RAIL LONGITUDINAL STRESS AND TEMPERATURE IS TO BE DEVELOPED AND INSTALLED IN TWO EXISTING TEST SITES. RESEARCH INTO THE BEST METHOD OF GENERATING POWER AND COMMUNICATING TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD WITHOUT HARD-WIRED CONNECTIONS IS TO BE DETERMINED. A PROTOTYPE OF THE NON-HARD-WIRED CONFIGURATION IS EXPECTED TO BE BUILT AND INSTALLED.
