Abstract

Radiance Technologies, Inc. proposes to develop the conceptual framework, fabricate and demonstrate an innovative low-profile, multi-mode anti-tamper (AT) volume protection sensor suite that meets MDA requirements for portability and reusability. This program will leverage two technologies currently being developed, and integrate them with a new technology that renders critical technology circuitry useless. We will also provide the capability to destroy extremely localized critical circuit features using thermal energy at the micro level. X-ray and focused ion beam detection will be provided by a nano-particle-loaded thin film scintillator material that lines the volume. The volume also contains a number of MEMS-based micro-cantilever beam arrays that will detect vibrational energy due to grinding or scanning acoustic microscopy attacks. Under this proposed program, new research will develop a film of material called NOTAMPER. When activated it will render the critical technology features useless by applying thermal energy to melt micro-circuitry. The architecture will allow for additional layers of protection at a later date. This program will integrate all of the components into a protected volume that meets the MDA requirements for reusability and DOT transport requirements.
