Abstract

We will develop fully defined, serum-free culture reagents, which contain no components of non- humwhich can be produced under completely controlled and reproducible pharmaceutical standards, and whiwith recombinant human hematopoietic factors will successfully support the generation and expansionprogenitor cells in-vitro from normal human marrow or blood mononuclear cells in short-term suspensidefine, develop and carry out initial preclinical evaluation of fully-defined, serum-free culture recomponents of non-human origin, to be used for culture of normal human hematopoietic progenitor cellbe to use successful serum-free reagents that have been shown to support hematopoietic stem cell expcontain components of non-human origin which will be sequentially replaced with components that areapproved. Development of these tissue culture reagents will focus on a specific clinical applicationand expansion of late neutrophil progenitors for infusion into patients undergoing autologous bone mblood stem cell transplantation in order to prevent or abate profound neutropenia in these patients.
