Abstract

Precision Combustion, Inc. (PCI) proposes to develop and demonstrate a novel and long-lived sulfur tolerant catalyst for auto thermal reforming (ATR) of E85 fuel. The proposed technology builds on PCI’s ultra-compact, high efficiency, sulfur-tolerant Microlith® reforming catalysts under development for other fuels in other DoD programs, adding advanced catalyst development for E85 operation to improve long-term stability and H2 yield. The development in the Phase I program will be applied in Phase 2 to develop and produce a prototype E85 fuel ATR reformer and validate the expected effective lifetime of 40,000 hours with acceptable degradation levels.
