Abstract

We investigate the development of a secure fuselet runtime environment built on a foundation of aspect-oriented web services. Aspect-oriented techniques enable the modularization of crosscutting concerns such as remote access, security, and monitoring using code instrumentation. We compose aspect-oriented instrumentation with web service technologies in a noninvasive and orthogonal manner, and leverage this infrastructure to build the server and remote administration tools required for the secure registration, execution, control, and monitoring of fuselets that subscribe to multiple sensor sources and publish decision-quality missile threat and targeting information. Phase I yielded the design and prototype implementation of the general aspect-oriented web service infrastructure and the fuselet server and administration utilities. Phase II will focus on the complete and modular implementation of the service infrastructure and fuselet runtime environment.
