Abstract

In this proposed Phase-I SBIR work, we will conduct the feasibility experiments on the phase locking technique to obtain higher power in diffraction-limited beam. One of the experiments is the locking of Mach-Zender interferometer with or without adelay-line that adds phase fluctuation relative to the other leg of the interferometer. This will assess the performance of the locking loop. Another experiment is the feasibility and performance assessment of the power booster. MOPA and injection-lockedlaser are both investigated in terms of the power and phase stability. Combination of these assessments will yield the information feasibility of the approach to scale up the power. We further extend the work to investigate into the design concept for thehigh power devices. This technique enables high brightness laser sources with good phase stability with relaxed thermal constraints. There are also opportunity for the application to the metrology.
