Abstract

Photorefractive polymers have emerged as a powerful class of real-time and reconfigurable holographic recording materials. This project will focus on the development of thermoplastic photorefractive polymers that can be fabricated into various films and shapes by precision injection molding and/or by extrusion. This effort will lead to large-scale manufacturing of low cost and reliable organic photorefractive devices. Numerous fields of applications for photorefractive materials including holographic storage, optical correlation, phase conjugation, non-destructive evaluation, and imaging will benefit from the first commercial availability of a new generation of photorefractive polymers.
