Abstract

A team led by NextGen Aeronautics Inc., plans to develop RF transparent materials for conformal, load-bearing antenna structures (CLAS). While the technology being developed will be applicable to multiple platforms, the focus of our efforts is high strength RF transparent materials for the Air Force LOw Band STructural Array(LOBSTAR) program. Our key innovation is a hybrid composite fabric that offers improved structural characteristics when compared to conventional RF materials. During the Phase II program, we will develop multiple material systems and structural concepts for the LOBSTAR CLAS antenna design, perform structural and RF properties assessment, and fabricate and test subcomponent articles.
