Not Available We will design a method to detect and subsequently mitigate corrosion at hidden or hard-to-access areas such as at flange joints and valve seats, at erosion-corrosion prone areas of turbulent flow in valves, pumps, or piping, and in galvanic corrosion prone areas caused by dissimilar metals. These corrosion types negatively impact the total cost of ownership and operational readiness of marine vessels. We will demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of a technology that will enable mitigation/prevention of localized corrosion through application of Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) to hidden areas while maintaining the structural integrity of the hidden areas, without the need for disassembly, i.e. in situ . This will be accomplished via a Flange-Anode Gasket device that we will design and manufacture. Our previously successful SBIR Phases I, II, and III integrated corrosion mitigation, remote sensing and monitoring, and data acquisition technologies and catapulted LOGIS-TECH's current growth. Synergistically teaming these technologies for the OSD99-07 effort will yield a robust solution adaptable to a wide variety of hidden corrosion areas such as those found in Navy shipboard seawater-handling systems.
