Abstract

Liberty Technologies is proposing to apply its proprietary Atomic Penetration of Materials technology to protect US Navy aircraft components from corrosion by creating innovative surface alloys and coatings that are not available by any other process. This technology is currently being applied to surface coating alloys that address the harsh erosive and corrosive environments deep in oil wells, as well as coatings for medical instruments, and new long-life cutting tools. We are proposing in Phase I to demonstrate this technology for Navy anti-corrosion applications, focusing on the ability to prevent Stress Corrosion Cracking and extending the life of many components in the harsh naval environments.
