Abstract

Not Available This document describes Innovative Power Solutions (IPS) proposal to design a regulated converter for the V22 aircraft. This unit converts aircraft 115/200 VAC, 360 to 457 Hz, three phase power into a regulated 28.7¿ 0.3 VDC output. The objective is to meet the stringent power quality as well as the EMI and thermal requirements in a package that will conform to Boeing drawing 901-375-201 and not exceed 30 lbs. The goal is to offer the regulated converter, in production quantities, for less than $23,000. In order to meet these ambitious goals we intend to use a high switching frequency to help reduce the filter size. This will help reduce size and weight, as well as improve power quality. Additionally, improving efficiency will be a prime goal that will require help meet the thermal requirements of an aerospace application. Cooler operation will increase the reliability and will eliminate the need for extensive heat sinking, again reducing size and weight. Modular design will be used to cut production costs and improve product maintainability so that purchase cost and life cycle costs could be reduced.
