Abstract

This Phase II program will demonstrate a full scale production capable high speed forging process to convert aplha beta titanium alloys to a fine grain alpha beta microstructure from a titanium 6Al-4V ingot microstructure and to provide full scale ring and disk forgings with a controlled microstructure for qualification of the process for use by aerospace OEM's. Process models and simulation tools will be demonstrated to provide forging houses with tools for application of this technology for various applications. Detailed manufacturing technology roadmaps and commerciallization plans will be prepared and a final report issued.
