Abstract

KCF Technologies will develop a sensor system for assessment of the health of Navy helicopter rotor components and management of their past, current, and projected life. Establishing this system will extend the life of components, reduce scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and improve aircraft safety. KCF Technologies will collaborate with Goodrich and Sikorsky to integrate the system with HUMS and our partners in Penn State Universities’ Rotor Craft Center to develop the core sensor technologies. The core sensor technologies include the power harvester, strain sensor, and wireless network. Lord Corporation will be involved at a component level to seamlessly embed the sensor nodes.
