Abstract

KAYTON ENGINEERING COMPANY PROPOSES AN INSTRUMENT PACKAGE THAT CLAMPS TO THE CANNON TUBE AT ANY LOCATION. THE SENSOR CONSISTS OF THE INSTRUMENT PACKAGE AND A PORTABLE CONTROL PANEL WHICH CONTAINS THE ELECTRONICS. IN PHASE I, KAYTON ENGINEERING PLANS TO DEFINE THE SPECIFICATIONS AND PRELIMINARY-DESIGN THE SYSTEM. IN PHASE II, WE PLAN TO FINISH THE DESIGN, PROCURE AN INSTRUMENT PACKAGE, AND BUILD THE TEST PANEL. WE PLAN TO TEST THE SENSOR ON A CANNON TO VERIFY ITS PERFORMANCE. IN PHASE III, WE PLAN TO PRODUCE A FINAL SENSOR AND ASSIST THE ARMY IN REDESIGN, COMPENSATION, OR CLOSED-LOOP CONTROL OF THE CANNON. KAYTON ENGINEERING COMPANY HAS BEEN IN THE FULL-TIME BUSINESS OF DESIGNING AVIONIC INSTRUMENTATION SYSTEMS FOR AIRCRAFT ANDSPACECRAFT FOR FIVE YEAR. WE HAVE SIMULATED AN ACTIVE RECOIL SYSTEM FOR THE M-109 GUN. DR. KAYTON, THE PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR, HAS HAD EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN INERTIAL INSTRUMENT DESIGN AND APPLICATIONS, INCLUDING THE DESIGN OF A HIGH-G GYRO.
