SIGNIFICANT PRODUCTIVITY GAINS CAN BE MADE IN THE AEROSPACE INDUSTRIES AND MANY ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES IF COMPUTER- AIDED DESIGN (CAD) TOOLS ARE DEVELOPED WHICH CAN MANAGE THE LARGE AMOUNTS OF DATA INVOLVED IN GENERATION, MANIPULATION, VALIDATION AND REVISION OF MODELS OF DISTRIBUTED PARAMETER SYSTEMS. THIS PROJECT PERFORMS THE INITIAL RESEARCH AND DEVISES A COMPREHENSIVE DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR A NEW CAD WORKSTATION THAT INTERGRATES THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL MODEL DETERMINATION FOR DISTRIBUTED PARAMETER SYSTEMS USING THE STRUCTURAL DYNAMICS/MODAL TESTING AREA AS THE CONCRETE EXAMPLE.
