Superconducting electronics have been proven to provide unique performance enhancements in speed and accuracy of RF digitization and signal processing. These capabilities enable OBJECTIVE performance to be achieved with the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS), and other software-defined communication systems. Superconductor Micro-Electronics (SME) technology, with its unique combination of high performance features, significantly enhances the feasibility of realizing a family of multi-mode, multi-band, nulti-channel programmable SATCOM radio systems based on a common architecture, such as the SCA, that extends JTRS software radio interoperability from 2 GHz to 55 GHz. The goal of this Phase II project is to demonstrate to the US Army CERDEC an ultra low noise, high fidelity X-Band all Digital-RF receiver using superconducting electronics for the next generation military tactical communication (JTRS) and MILSATCOM applications. This effort will provide a firm foundation for further developments to provide complete Digital RF transceivers (transmit and receive) across the full MILSATCOM frequency bands (UHF to AEHF).
