Abstract

HYPRES, in collaboration with DuPont, proposes to develop A High TcSNS Josephson junction process for the fabrication of large scale superconducting circuits. These devices are in demand for high speed signal processing electronics (such as A/D converters), improved IR sensors, and SQUID magnetometers. The development of a high Tc superconducting circuit process will make the practical application of these superconducting electronic components possible, since liquid He cryogen can be replaced by an inexpensive, low power cryocooler. We propose to use Silicon on Sapphire substrates to produce YBCO SNS Josephson junctions. The use of SOS allows direct integration of the high Tc circuits with Si electronics.
