Abstract

PALYTOXIN IS AN EXTREMELY CYTOTOXIC LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT NATURAL PRODUCT ISOLATED FROM SOFT CORALS OF THE GENUS, PALYTHOA. N-ACYLATED DERIVATIVES OF PALYTOXIN HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO BE UP TO 100-FOLD LESS CYTOTOXIC THAN THE UNMODIFIED TOXIN. PALYTOXIN N-ACYL DERIVATIVES WHICH CAN BE CONVERTED TO THE NATIVE TOXIN BY ANTITUMOR MONOCLONAL ANTIBODY- ENZYME CONJUGATES WILL BE PREPARED AND TESTED FOR ANTIGEN-SELECTIVE CYTOTOXICITY AGAINST CELLS IN CULTURE.
