Abstract

The signals intelligence (SIGINT) mission has taken on a new importance in the electronic warfare (EW) domain as improvised explosive devices (IEDs) are often enabled by consumer-grade electronic devices. Detecting, Identifying and Geo-locating (DIG) these devices before they can cause harm is difficult. These devices can be detected passively or actively. Once a device is detected it must be accurately geo-located and classified as to whether it is a threat or not. For the RADICAL program, GIRD Systems proposes a compact, single platform hardware system that can accomplish the above objectives.
