Abstract

In this project, we propose to develop a rad hard, monolithically integrated widely tunable optical transmitter capable of operating at data rates of greater than 100Gbps, utilizing vector modulation schemes. The transmitter will be developed using an Indium Phosphide monolithic integration platform, minimizing the size, weight and power of the module. The multilevel modulation scheme used provides the best bit rate scalability for lasercom satellite links. BENEFITS: This technology will provide a robust technology with extremely small SWAP to enable a next generation of high bandwidth free space link applications. Dual use applications are extensive as telecom providers transition into vector modulation format systems of 100Gbps and beyond.
