Abstract

THE SYNTHESIS AND EVALUATION OF A CONDUCTIVE, REDOX POLYMER IS PROPOSED FOR USE AS AN ELECTRODE MATERIAL FOR RECHAREABLEAQUEOUS AND NON-AQUEOUS BATTERIES. IN AN ELECTRODE, THIS POLYMER WOULD BE CAPABLE OF RAPID AND REVERSIBLE ELECTROCHEMISTRY WITHOUIT THE USE OF METALS. THE POLYMER ALSO HAS A LOW EQUIVALENT WEIGHT ALLOWING FOR HIGH CHARGE DENSITY ELECTRODES. THE PLLYMER MAY FIND ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS IN ELECTROCHROMICS, AS AN ELECTRO-REGENERATIVE ION-EXCHANGE OR REDOX RESIN, AND AS A CATALYST.
