Abstract

The DECISIVE ANALYTICS Corporation (DAC) Team will develop a prototype system that will demonstrate how the BMDS can utilize battlefield learning technologies to support both non-real-time and real-time adaptability throughout the course of the BMDS mission. Our approach, called a Work Centered Intelligent Agent System for Battlefield Learning, is centered on intelligent agents that recommend improvements in operational processes, resources, tactics, techniques and procedures based on learning from prior information. This prior information will be mined by intelligent agents that capture operator decisions, actions results, and contexts in performing integrated missile defense (IMD) planning and real-time engagement. The foundation for our approach is as follows: How well the warfighter is able to utilize prior information for learning directly influences their ability to succeed in future engagements. The process of organizing battlefield information is a crucial step for success. For this project, we propose a Work Centered Design approach to develop Virtual Information-Action Workspaces tailored for specific missile defense applications. The result will be a system interface that supports operator decision making and critical thinking.
