Abstract

Cornerstone Research Group Inc. (CRG) proposes to develop and demonstrate a passive, adaptive structure technology that will permit a HALE UAV wing structure to respond to gust loads by temporarily modifying its shape to reduce the gust load effects and maximum load requirements driving structural sizing. This response is a “step-wise” response that will only occur when a specific loading condition is reached and will be tailored to prevent overcompensation and avoid introduction of secondary, dynamic loadings associated with aeroelastic responses.
