Abstract

Phase I work was targeted at investigation of a meteorological sensing package for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Much of this work was based upon operational experience gained during Cloud Cap Technology’s involvement with numerous meteorological experiments which involved the use of small UAVs. The goal in phase I was to design a small, low cost meteorological quality sensor package that could be rapidly integrated with a variety of different host vehicles. The basic sensing package provides: pressure, temperature, humidity (PTU) and winds; options for vehicle hosted or stand alone data links; and a flexible external interface to support other sensors.
