Abstract

The Joint Forces Command (JFCOM) has made Network-centric Joint Time Critical Targeting (TCT) a major focus. A major feature of the TCT environment is web services which allow interaction between dissimilar targeting systems. The ARDEC Combat Decision Aiding System (CDAS) application, which provides major TCT improvements, is currently unable to interface to web-services environments such as JFCOM’s. CHI Systems is solving this problem by creating a reusable software component called CDAS Web Interface Services (CWIS). In Phase I, a limited CWIS prototype was developed for use in a web services environment currently used at the USAF Command and Control Battlelab (USAFC2B). CWIS communicates in this environment via Extended Markup Language (XML). In Phase II, CWIS will be expanded to include the SOAP, UDDI, and WSDL services needed for full web-based interaction in the USAFC2B environment, and serve as a translator between the USAFC2B environment and CDAS TCT. CWIS will allow CDAS to communicate with other joint targeting systems such as AFATDS and TBMCS in order to provide advanced CDAS TCT capabilities. This will provide a clear transition path for CDAS, whereby web-based CDAS TCT capabilities are available to all joint targeting clients to include JFCOM, since USAFC2B directly supports JFCOM.
